Welcome to the 2023-24 Hastings Hockey Season!

By T. Horton 11/21/2023, 5:00pm CST

Hello Hastings Hockey!

On behalf of the Hastings Hockey Board of Directors I would like to officially welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 Hastings Hockey Season!!  As the Hastings Boys Varsity Hockey program has recently completed their tryout process the Hastings Hockey Association has officially started our 2023-24 season with our final team (Jr Gold) starting up this week!!

Our 27 board members and coordinators have put in a tremendous amount of time and effort this past off season planning and preparing for the 23-24 season and we are very excited for hockey in Hastings to be underway!  As we kick off our season I would like to bring up a few highlights of the year to come:

  • Hastings Hockey has 535 hockey players registered and playing this 23-24 season!
  • Our program has over 90 coaches volunteering across all teams!  This is approximately 1 coach per 6 skaters!
  • The Hastings Civic Arena will have the full season this year with our new scoreboard and sound systems in both rinks!
  • With the development of our hockey players top of mind, your HHB Board of Directors have approved and is now implementing a Hockey Development Committee made up committee members who have extensive hockey experience, have gone through the Hastings Hockey program, and who have a passion for the great game of hockey!  Included in our Hockey Development Committee are members from both the boys and girls Varsity Hockey programs!  We look forward to our commitment to on-ice skill development!
  • In September of 2022 HHB launched our Charitable Gambling initiative.  In 13 months the efforts of our Charitable Gambling Committee have raised over $30,000 for our hockey program!  We are planning for this number to continue to grow as our Charitable Gambling becomes even more established!
  • Hastings will be the host to 3 invitational tournaments and district tournaments this season.  Check the Hastings Hockey website for details on dates and times and come on out and support our local Hastings teams!!
  • This season marks the 65th Anniversary of the Hastings Hockey Boosters!
  • Plus much much more!!!!!

As we start our hockey season I would also like to reflect on the Mission Statement and Core Value of Hastings Hockey as these are the foundations in which our entire association can embrace to continue to build a top-tiered hockey program and culture that will last for generations:

  • Mission Statement:  The Hasting Hockey Association seeks to provide a community-driven program to promote the growth and development of our hockey players while instilling the Hastings Hockey Core Value of Gratitude, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork (G.R.I.T.)
  • Core Values:
    • Gratitude:  Being thankful with the readiness to return kindness and appreciation both on and off the ice.
    • Respect:  Having/showing high regard for the people, facilities, and other teams in which you encounter and interact with, including yourself.
    • Integrity:  Doing the right thing in all circumstances, even if no one is watching you, while being true to yourself.
    • Teamwork:  Togetherness in working towards a common goal with your peers, your team, and your association.

Lastly, I personally would like to say Thank You!  Thank you for all that you do for Hastings Hockey, especially your hockey player/s!!  I am grateful for the selflessness of our hockey members in volunteering to run clocks, manage teams, be a "taxi service" for our hockey players, and ultimately for being such great Hastings Hockey supporters/fans!!  Genuinely, Thank You for all that you do!!

Please feel free to reach out to an HHB Board Member if you ever have any questions, ideas, or would simply like to thank them for their dedication to Hastings Hockey.  We are hear to help.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 Hockey Season and GOOOOOOOOOOO HASTINGS HOCKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
