As a result of the various fundraising efforts last season, over $14,000 was raised for Minnesota Hockey Fights Cancer and our association finished 3rd in the final standings for the John Gegen Cup.

You should all be very proud of your efforts, kindness, and support that was so generously given in making the Hockey Fights Cancer campaign a success.

We received a wonderful email from Shelly Gegen (John Gegen's mother) as a thank you for the support the Hastings Hockey Association and our Hastings hockey family provided John, and the Gegen family, during the 2023-2024 Hockey Fights Cancer campaign.

John's mother writes:

"This past winter, during the 2023-2024 Minnesota Hockey Fights Cancer Campaign, our family felt the love from our hockey community.  Thank you, thank you from the Gegen family for your generosity and support during this challenging and uncertain time. I can only imagine the organization and time that it took to create such a successful and meaningful event."

And:

"There were many reasons shared with us to put smiles on our faces. The Gegen jersey is very special to John. All the pictures of players and a former coach holding " I Fight for John" signs touched our hearts. The encouraging words of support at the games lifted our spirits and reminded our family that we are not alone in this fight."

"We are incredibly grateful for your unwavering support, encouragement, and generosity. Your actions have shown us the true meaning of community and the incredible impact that compassionate individuals can have on the lives of others."

She concludes with:

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
